So I got off work today at 0630 hours and rode my bike home through the Manassas Battle grounds, it was beautiful with a bit of chill in the air. You have to think about what transpired there and wonder if the ghosts that walk there wonder what the hell happened.
Ok so four hours of sleep later I load up the bike to start my 3-hour (only took me 4.5 hours) 198 mile (276) ride home. And there is no place better to contemplate something than on the road on a bike. So I strap on my Thinking Machine (motorcycle) along with my Idea Rectify/magnify/discombobulater (helmet-optional in some states) and begin my journey. The idea that came into my Idea RMD (see last sentence) was a question and my answer from the day before. The question was Do you not were a helmet when riding your motorcycle? Simple enough of a question, I know but it was the answer was the thing in the RMD. The answer was , No up in PA were the RMD is optional I don’t usually wear one because I believe that no matter what I do if fate say OK your done, well then you’re DONE.
Believe me I pondered this for over 150 miles and am no closer to a decision than before I went kickstand up.
All I know is that I am blessed to have some of the greatest people around me and whether it is because of my actions or if it s fate putting them there. I am eternally grateful. People will always be entering and leaving our lives, but it’s the memories that make them special. To all those friends and family of mine, Thank you for making my life special.
Ok now on to some random thoughts from the road:
Passed a farm stand on the way and wondered, just how I would strap a watermelon onto the back of the bike, you know in case I got hungry.
When the sky is that particular shade of blue and the clouds are thin it looks like a painters canvas, and man is it beautiful.
Is there a better site along the road than a line of houses flying the greatest flag ever, be it on fence posts, flag poles, or on the house it makes me proud to live is this great land.
Mother Nature takes the scars that man puts upon her and makes them her own and still says “Come look at me am I not beautiful†and she is so right. The sites I saw today took my breath away.
Does anything sound better than a group of young kids playing in a swimming pool on a hot summer day?
I love riding because it lets me think and reflect. I wish life was like a motorcycle ride, great fun going fast and if it starts to get out of control you just lean a little harder into the curves, down shift, throttle back and get control. God I love this country.
And always remember to LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE and RIDE like there is no tomorrow, because it might just be FATE.
